June 2013 Event - "You Can Bet on IRESS"
On June 1st, 2013, Katrina Coterill-Jenkins '91, '93 kindly sponsored and hosted the first IRESS social event at her Houston home. The fun-filled evening was centered around a Vegas-styled event aptly named "You Can Bet on IRESS". Department Chair Richard Gordon described his vision for IRESS and the important contribution that it could make to Houston's Earth Science community. Ed Biegert '74 shared the reasons that motivated both himself and his wife Cathleen to launch the IRESS Endowment and discussed the pivotal role that the annual symposia could play in strengthening the connection between students, post-docs, faculty, and industry. Ken Abdulah '95 and Katrina Coterill-Jenkins spoke about the rationale behind their support of IRESS and sent out an appeal, and a challenge, for us to be part of this larger goal.

Please keep an eye open for upcoming events, the next of which is an Industry, Department, and Alumni social scheduled for Friday, September 27th, 2013, at the Department of Earth Science. Faculty will be sharing their current research interests with us followed by light refreshments. Start time is 4:00pm. Hope to see you there…!
